Movie Mondays!

This movie harkens back to the sensitivities of the old Frank Capra classics. It’s a charming film, which works, in large part because of the chemistry between the two leads: Tea Leoni and Nicholas Cage. Both actors turn in exemplary performances; Cage as a man caught up in a life that might have been and Leoni as the wife he might have had. Cage and Leoni both have gone on to other films mining this genre successfully, here they hit all their marks giving us robust and mature performances. They are believable as husband and wife with all the right hints of sentimentality and warmth making this a very good watch. A family film letting you walk away with a positive message but not hitting you over the head in getting the message across.
